Lacrosse My Heart

Richmond, Virginia

“Lacrosse My Heart” is a charity lacrosse match raising funds for Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Awareness, the leading cause of death of teen athletes, and to support nonprofits that put the cardiac safety of students at the forefront.

The issue of SCA touched one of Lacrosse My Heart’s founders, Brennan Lane, in a personal and painful way. On March 23, 2015, Brennan’s sister, Hailey Lane, a lifelong swimmer and 2nd year cadet at the United States Air Force Academy, experienced a catastrophic cardiac arrest with little hope for survival. With heroic medical intervention for Hailey and intense support of the Lane Family from the community, including local lacrosse families, Hailey and her family moved forward toward recovery.

This lacrosse game, scheduled for October 15, 2017 in Midlothian, Virginia is a collaborative efforts of Virginia middle school students involved in lacrosse programs like Chesterfield Youth Lacrosse (CYL), C2C Lacrosse and other area organizations and will benefit the Ryan Lopynski Big Heart Foundation, an organization promoting and conducting basic cardiac screening of teens so that the tragedy of SCA can be minimized or eliminated. Middle school males in 2023 and 2024 graduating classes who wish to play (all positions welcome) may email lacrossemyheart2017@gmail.com.
